SANTA Claus is coming to town.

In fact, you might see hundreds of Santas on Sunday – because the Huddersfield Lions host their annual Santa Dash.

So far 300 runners are signed up to have some pre-Christmas fun and there are places for even more to join the Santa Dash and Reindeer Run.

Bob Armitage of the Huddersfield Lions said: “It’s the second year we’ve held this and it got off to a great start last year, raising around £3,000 for charity.

“People can walk, run or do handstands around the one mile course. It’s open for people in wheelchairs or mums pushing prams, it doesn’t matter how it’s done. It’s about raising money for charity and having some fun too.”

Adults can enter for £5 and they get a Santa costume, while entry for children is £2.50 and they get some reindeer antlers and a shiny nose. Runners are asked to get sponsored for charity too.

The Lions of Holmfirth and Meltham will have their Santa sleighs in the town and people can take part in a free raffle or donate to the Lions charitable work.

The fun starts and ends outside Yates’s on King Street, where food and drinks will be sold. Entry is open from 9.30am and the Santa Dash in the town centre starts at 10.30am.
