Santa has arrived from Lapland and opened his grotto inside the Kingsgate shopping centre in Huddersfield.

The grotto, which resembles a partially-built igloo, opened on Thursday this week and will be open every day from now until Christmas Eve.

Tahnee Scott, grotto manager, was dressed up as one of Santa’s elves when the Examiner called on Thursday.

The grotto can be found at the far end of the shopping mall.

Santa said: “I’ve just got here from Lapland. I’m looking forward to having a chat with all the boys and girls.

“I want children to tell me what they want for Christmas because if they don’t tell me I don’t know.

“I want every boy and girl to visit the grotto and have a wonderful time.”

Families can also have their photos taken with Santa inside the grotto.
