IF you fancy running through Huddersfield town centre dressed as Santa then now’s the time to act.

A massive Santa Dash will be staged in December which aims to boost local charities.

The event is being organised by Huddersfield Lions so all participants have to do is sign up, do the dash and raise money for their favourite charity or community group.

The event has been sponsored by Armitage’s Garden Centre.

The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice at Brackenhall hopes to have at least 100 runners supporting the charity.

Adults will be putting on Santa suits while youngsters will sport festive reindeer antlers and flashing noses to dash, run, walk, skip or hop the one-mile route to raise funds for worthwhile causes.

Last year’s event raised about £2,000.

The run takes place on Sunday, December 9, at 10.30am from Yates Wine Bar on King Street, Huddersfield, with a route around the town centre. It’s suitable for wheelchair and pushchair users and admission is £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 11s in advance.
