A Dalton woman has appeared in court after driving while almost three times the legal limit.

Sarah Hetherington, of Heathergrove Fold, was before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to drink-driving on April 29.

Alex Bozman, prosecuting, said that police were called to Dalton Fold Road at just after 3pm.

Their area control room had received a report of someone driving under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of this the officers stopped Hetherington’s Ford Focus C-Max.

When they spoke with Hetherington they could smell alcohol on her breath and her speech was slurred.

Following a positive roadside breath test they arrested her and took her to Huddersfield Police Station.

There further tests revealed that Hetherington had 95 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

This was almost three times the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Ian Whiteley, mitigating, said that his client had a difficulty with alcohol as well as some mental health issues.

District Judge Michael Fanning adjourned so that a full report can be prepared on Hetherington before her sentencing.

In the meantime she is subject to an interim driving disqualification.
