A DOG which savaged a 66-year-old man and left him with horrendous injuries is still missing.

The bull terrier viciously attacked the victim in Almondbury on Saturday afternoon.

It was caught after the attack, but freed when intruders released it from kennels in a burglary early on Sunday.

The dog had chased the man from Eastlands into the car park of the Homestead residential care home on Hurst Knowle.

It only released its grip when it was beaten by police wielding batons.

An Almondbury couple were arrested in connection with the incident and later bailed by police.
