SCHOOL singers and six-stringers are hoping for a finely tuned performance in a national competition.

Singers and guitarists at Scholes Junior and Infants School were one of three Kirklees school groups picked to perform at the national Music For Youth Festival, at Birmingham Symphony Hall.

Scholes School, together with Kirklees Music School Holme Valley and Colne Valley centres, will compete against other schools from across the country in the infants and juniors category on Monday.

The winner will perform at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

It is the first time Scholes School has entered the contest and the 63-pupil group are very excited, says classroom assistant and music co-ordinator Danielle Brown.

She said: “I’m not sure we’ll get to perform at the Albert Hall, but it’s a really big thing for us.”
