A VILLAGE school has won two awards for its healthy lifestyle.

South Crosland Junior at Netherton has received the national Healthy School Award and the Kirklees Healthy School Gold Award.

The Kirklees award required the school to met extra criteria on top of those needed for the national award.

In total, the school had to meet 13 criteria in subjects including encouraging sports and healthy eating.

Spokeswoman Becky Freeman said the school started preparing to aim for the awards last September.
