HEAD teachers and managers of primary schools and nurseries have been learning the importance of Getting It Right From The Start.

More than 100 heads and managers from across Calderdale attended a conference in Brighouse to share best practice in early years education.

The conference, hosted by the Calderdale Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership, dealt with issues including communication, language and literacy and ways of making numeracy fun for children.

Sheila Lock, Calderdale Council's head of services to students and communities, said: "It is so important to get early years education right because it impacts on people's experience as they grow up."
