A SCHOOLGIRL suffered a double break to her ankle after being knocked down on her way home.

The 11-year-old ran out from behind a bus at the bottom of Blackmoorfoot Road when she was in collision with a grey VW Golf at about 3.25pm yesterday.

She was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for treatment to the fractures to her right ankle.

In a separate incident, a student suffered minor injuries when he was knocked down on his way to college.

The 17-year-old was walking to Shelley College when he was in collision with a Nissan Note at the junction of Shelley Woodhouse Lane and Ponker Lane in Lower Cumberworth at about 8.40am yesterday.

He suffered minor grazing and bruising.
