STAFF and students at Holmfirth High School last night paid tribute to murder victim Marie Stewart.

School staff confirmed the 30-year-old, found dead on Sunday, had been working at the school since last September.

And they said trained counsellors were on hand at the school to help support pupils particularly upset by her tragic death.

In a statement, executive head Dr Andy Williams and acting head Gail Howe said: "Marie was a learning support worker who came to the school in September.

"Her work was mainly with one group of students and one pupil in particular.

"She was extremely committed to her work in school and was a committed and caring person who will understandably be missed by those with whom she worked.

"People may be affected by the circumstances of her death and the police inquiry and our priority is to support people through this difficult time.

"We have trained counsellors in school who can offer pupils support if it is necessary."
