A SCHOOL was forced to close after an electricity fault.

Scissett Middle School pupils were asked to stay at home yesterday after a fault in the sub-station supplying the school at 7.15am.

The fault meant there was no heating, lighting or cooking facilities at the school.

But the parents evening also planned for last night went ahead as planned after the supplies were restored.

New headteacher Helen Baxter said: “I’ve had a bit of baptism of fire since I became head with the snow and now this.”

The school was expecting to be open today as normal.
