A SEARCH by Hollywood film star Samantha Morton to find her step-father has ended sadly in Huddersfield.

Last week the actress made a public plea to find Frank Braidwood, also known as Frank Sheriden, who she was estranged from.

But the Minority Report and Band Of Gold star has since discovered that he died in Huddersfield in 2007.

Mr Braidwood contracted MRSA while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.

There was a service at Huddersfield Crematorium, but the actress was unaware until she made a public plea to him.

Mr Braidwood was said to be a regular at car boot sales and antique markets.

The actress was so desperate to heal a rift with him she hired a private detective and begged him to get in touch in a letter to a magazine.

The 33-year-old wrote that she wanted forgiveness for the hurt she caused during her troubled childhood. Sadly, words from her letter have come true. She ended it saying “Hopefully you didn’t die.”

Mr Braidwood married her mother Pamela in 1983 but they divorced in 1992.
