COMEDIAN Bobby Ball is to do the honours of switching on Holmfirth Christmas lights.
The switch-on will be the finale of an afternoon of entertainment on November 24.
From noon at the Co-op car park, there will be free music from New Orleans Wiggle, Old Man Pie Band, Hade Edge Brass Band, folk singers and Jazz Honkers.
There will be free entertainment, funfair, face painting, mulled wine, mince pies, a hog roast, chestnuts and a Christmas market.
Santa will also make an appearance, touring the town handing out free goodies to children before setting up his grotto in the Co-op car park.
Businesses will also be getting involved by creating ‘Christmas Magic’ window displays, with prizes for the best display and fancy dress outfit.
At 3.30pm, Bobby Ball will ride on a carriage drawn by four white Shire horses, leading a procession to the centre of Holmfirth where the switch-on will take place.
It will be followed with a free concert by Bobby Ball at Holmfirth Civic Hall from 7.15pm. Tickets are available from Holmfirth Christian Centre on Huddersfield Road.
