A WOMAN thought to be Huddersfield's second oldest resident has died at the age of 106.

Eva Snalam died peacefully at Colne Valley Residential Home, Milnsbridge, on Sunday.

It had been her home for three years.

Mrs Snalam, formerly Eva Bower, was born in Wakefield on October 10, 1895.

She worked as a weaver before marrying Arthur Snalam at Longwood Parish Church in 1932.

The couple lived first in North Wales, where Mr Snalam worked on the railways, and later in Southport.

Mrs Snalam moved to Broomfield Road, Marsh, after her husband's death in 1950.

A funeral will take place at Huddersfield Crematorium at 11am next Tuesday.

The person thought to be Huddersfield's oldest resident, Eunice Wimpenny, 106, lives at Newsome Nursing Home. She was born in Holmfirth on May 2, 1895.
