NEWSOME are through to a second cup final at the Galpharm Stadium.

The side, who had already booked a place in the Barlow Cup final against Netherton, have now made it though in the FA Challenge Cup.

They did so with a comprehensive 6-0 semi-final victory over Sovereign Sports at Laund Hill.

Sovereign’s Kirk Smith was sent off after 30 minutes for violent conduct but by then Newsome were cruising 3-0, thanks to goals from Damian McKenzie, Darren Slattery and Anthony Haigh.

They were rarely troubled in the second half and went on to add further goals through Jamie Jobarteh (2) and Neil Slattery.

They will meet Meltham in the final on Thursday, May 8.

Fall Lane, Marden, is the venue for tonight’s Richardson Cup final when Cumberworth Reserves take on Berry Brow Reserves (6.00).

Town Ladies Under 14s pulled off a 5-1 victory at Farsley Celtic.
