A project is underway to conserve a remarkable collection of pre and post-war aerial photos of Huddersfield, Brighouse, Dewsbury and more

Britain From Above  aims to conserve 95,000 of the oldest and most valuable pictures in the Aerofilms collection, those dating from 1919 to 1953.

There are hundreds of images in the archive showing how our town used to look as well as shots of Brighouse, Dewsbury and all across the country.

Click on the gallery above to see just what pilots in 1926 snapped as they looked over and surveyed Huddersfield - and marvel at how things have changed - like Greenhead Park (pictured below).
