X Factor pop stars sent fans wild when they popped into Waterloo Morrisons today.

Hundreds of people screamed with excitement at the prospect of meeting heart-throb boy band Union J at the Penistone Road store, despite stinging icy wind and rain.

The four piece from London made the special visit as part of a whirlwind trip around England to greet fans and sign copies of their second album, You Got It All.

First in line to meet their pop heroes were three teenage friends, who had been queuing since 7am.

One, 13-year-old, Olivia Spence from Lowerhouses, said: "It's been a bit cold but it's been worth it.

"No one ever comes to Huddersfield, I feel like I'm about to cry."

Further up the queue was 10-year-old Lauren Hirst, who was brought along by her parents as a birthday surprise.

She said: "I had no idea why I was being taken here so it was a complete shock- it's the best birthday present ever."

Inside the shop fans rushed past curious Saturday shoppers to meet members Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett, Jaymi Hensley and George Shelley, who greeted them, posed for selfies and signed copies of the album.

The boy band shot to fame on X Factor in 2012, where they got to the semi-final stage before being eliminated, and are now enjoying building success to rival fellow X Factor group, One Direction.

JJ, 26, said: "The good thing about signing is that we get to go to places like Huddersfield which we don't get to go to very often.

"We get to see fans who got us to where we are today-it's great to be able to give something back to them."

The new 15 track album, the band's second, includes songs penned by the members themselves.

Fellow member, George, 21, said: "It's one thing to perform on stage but nothing beats the feeling we get when the songs we are singing are ones we've written ourselves-they're really special moments."

And despite their busy schedule, they even found time to wish our readers a very merry Christmas.

After completing several other signings around the country, Union J will take some time off from their busy touring schedule and plan to spend New Year's Eve in the Caribbean.
