SPORTS enthusiast Graham Brook has retired after 34 years with a Huddersfield engineering firm.

Mr Brook, who lives at Honley with his wife Noreen, received retirement gifts from colleagues and directors at Sellers Engineers in Deighton.

He began his working life aged 15 as an apprentice with WC Holmes at Turnbridge before working for David Brown Gears at Lockwood.

Mr Brook later worked for an engineering design consultancy, but decided to leave when the firm moved from Huddersfield to Cleckheaton.

He joined Sellers Engineers in September 1978 in the drawing office, where he worked for 13 years before becoming technical spares engineer. He spent 21 years working with customers around the world in the after-sales department.

Mr Brook, who has two children and four grandchildren, played football for Brackenhall United and Lockwood AFC.

Later in life he took up crown green bowls and plays for Netherton Conservative Club in the subscription league and has won several championships.
