EDUCATION specialists will continue their work at troubled Colne Valley Specialist Arts College after the half-term break.

They are already working alongside staff and governors in an effort to turn round the college.

Senior staff from Kirklees Council are taking an active role in improving the performance of the Linthwaite secondary school which was put into special measures by Ofsted last week.

‘Special measures’ is the worst possible outcome for a school following an inspection and means it needs outside help to improve.

The task ahead of the council and school leaders is to show the Ofsted inspectors that real progress has been made before their next visit, which is likely to be in April or May.

The school will only receive very short notice before the next inspection.

Education specialists are planning and giving lessons alongside teachers. They are also working with governors, who came in for criticism in the Ofsted report for not doing enough, to help them monitor the school more effectively.
