FREE advice and information about social services, health care and housing will be provided at two major events in Huddersfield's Greenhead Park.

A marquee will be used to accommodate advice workers at Huddersfield Carnival on Saturday July 10 and at Kirklees Mela, which will take place the following day.

The marquee was used at both events for the first time last year and was visited by about 3,500 people.

It was such a success it is being used again this year.

People will be able to obtain advice about Shopmobility scooters, homes to rent, old people's services and more.

Visitors can also take part in face-painting, cookery demonstrations, prize competitions, theatre and art.

John Doyle, divisional manager for Kirklees Council's social services, said he hoped to help more people this year.
