This lane was sealed off after a suspected sex attack in Huddersfield town centre.
Detectives taped off Albert Yard, which links Victoria Lane and New Street, after claims of an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Yesterday, police would not reveal any details of the alleged attack.
But a source told the Examiner police arrived on the scene at about 4am and the alleged victim was female.
An inquiry has been launched by West Yorkshire’s top cops, the Homicide and Major Inquiry Team (HMET).
The alley by the Albert pub remained closed and was guarded by officers on Sunday while detectives and forensics workers completed their investigation of the scene.
