LOCAL stonemason Jonathan Albutt plans to share his skills with the community.

Mr Albutt, 36, pictured, of Deercroft Drive, Salendine Nook, will hold two-day workshops over a series of weekends.

The classes will be held over the weekends April 2 and 3, June 4 and 5 and November 12 and 13 at Calderdale College.

The first weekend will teach marking and carving of letters into stone.

The second will teach people to carve decorative relief panels.

And on the third course people will learn other sculpting skills.

Mr Albutt has been a stonemason for the past 20 years, combining his hobby and his work.

One of his big projects included restoration work at Lincoln Cathedral.

He said: "I tend to specialise in carved ornamental work and also in hand-carved memorials."

All courses will be held at Calderdale College's new Creative and Conservation Skills centre in Halifax.

"We expect the courses to be extremely popular so the numbers will have to be limitedto 15 per session," said Mr Albutt.

Information on the courses is available from Kath Allen at Calderdale College on 01422 399339.
