Another pink pigeon has been spotted in Huddersfield.

The Examiner reported how a shocking pink bird had been photographed in Netherthong.

Now what appears to be a different pigeon with a more delicate colouring – baby pink – has been snapped at Shorehead behind the Sainsbury’s store.

Staff at pipe cleaner manufacturer Hewitt & Booth in Quay Street took this picture.

Customer services officer Karen Preston couldn’t believe her eyes when she glanced out of the window and saw the pigeon on a roof looking pretty in pink.

Quick as a flash marketing assistant Joshua Barr, 21, grabbed his camera before the bird flew off.

“We took the picture on Monday,” said Joshua. “The pigeon stayed around for a bit but then flew off and we haven’t seen it since.

“We see quite a lot of pigeons around here because they live in the big mill chimney but we’ve never seen a pink one.”

Jayne Robinson snapped a deep pink pigeon in Town Gate, Netherthong, which appeared to be none the worse for its unusual plumage.

The bird had obviously been spray painted and the RSPCA branded anyone doing that as “cruel” and warned it could cause an allergic reaction.

They also said the eye-catching feathers made the bird more vulnerable to predators.

Joshua said the bird he saw did not seem to be in distress and added: “Maybe there’s a serial pigeon dyer on the loose!”
