FOUR men have been bailed over an incident in which a schoolboy was shot in the head in an area popular with night-time hunters known as "lampers", police said today.

The 12-year-old, who has not been named, was walking close to a golf course near Castleford with his father on Thursday night when he was shot.

He is in a "stable but poorly" condition in Leeds General Infirmary.

Four men, aged 18, 25, 44 and 60 have been arrested. The teenager was quizzed about wounding and the others on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
