PROTESTS to plans for a convenience store being kicked out.

Developers wanted to build one on the site of a former filling station on the corner of Westbourne Road and Thornhill Road, Marsh.

Protester Colin Baldwin said: "The hours it is likely to open, and the traffic it would generate, are likely to cause problems."

Clr Mohan Sokhal said the site was mainly surrounded by houses and the store would create a nuisance.

The filling station closed more than six months ago.

Planning permission was refused after councillors visited the site. The thumbs-down came at Kirklees Council's Huddersfield Area Planning sub-committee.
