HERE’S a side of Lindley shopworkers you’ve never seen before!

The brave men and women stripped off to take part in the village’s charity calendar, hoping to raise thousands through their naked antics.

With just a few strategically placed props to cover their modesty, workers from the mainly Lidget Street shops struck some creative poses for their 2009 Lindley Bares All calendar.

The calendars have now gone on sale and all proceeds will go to The Laura Crane Trust.

The calendar is also dedicated to Examiner journalist Adrian Sudbury, who died from leukaemia in August.

The workers came up with the idea of making a charity calendar after forming a community group to hold more fundraising events leading up to the main late-night Christmas shopping event.

Organiser Joanna Dyson, who manages Jellybeans shoe shop, said some people took more persuading than others.

She said: “We wanted to do something fun and thought a calendar would be ideal, as with it being in the run-up to Christmas they would make great presents.

“The initial reaction from most people I approached was ‘I’m not doing that’. But after we did a few photo shoots and showed them they saw how tasteful and professional they looked they soon changed their mind.

“Now everyone wants to take part if we do one again next year!”

She added: “We had a real laugh making it. Downstairs in Jellybeans we’ve got a photography studio and most of the shoots were done from there.

“Some were done on location, like The Hair Room’s, which gathered a crowd because people could see it through the window!

“Everybody who’s seen the calendar has said they love it. It’s hysterical to see peoples’ faces when they realise where they’ve seen you before!”

The £4 calendar, available from most of its participants’ shops, is already selling well and locals hope to sell many more during the late-night shopping event on Tuesday December 2.

This also raises money for local good causes.
