Kirklees Council officers will be in court today – to evict travellers from Reinwood.

They hope the application can be fast-tracked because the recreation ground occupied by the travellers is a designated landing site for helicopters.

The fields are used to bring emergency patients to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, only 500 metres away.

Lindley councillor Tony Brice said: “We hope the application for an order can be fast-tracked because the site is required by the Air Ambulance.”

The travellers moved on to the playing fields on Tuesday.

Earlier, a group had left playing fields off Lindley Moor Road.
