ORGANISERS of a summer show have some new attractions planned this year.

The Mirfield Show takes place at the town’s showground on August 17.

Chairwoman Karen Bullivant said: “We will have the usual family favourites like the horse and pony show, the rabbit and pigeon competitions and the flower and vegetable classes.

“But we have also introduced more activities aimed at involving younger people. These include a colouring competition and a photography contest.”

Other attractions at the show include a display by the Springers Agility and Flyball Club, the award-winning Knottingley Silver Band, pony rides, puppets and tug-of-war competitions.

The closing date for the show’s creative writing competition is July 12.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help with the show can call 07932 745 138.

A small number of stalls are still available by calling 01924 490 658.
