A VILLAGE community hall has staged its first show in 27 years.
And the St Mark’s Players show at Longwood Mechanics Hall evoked memories of the 1970s.
It featured songs, music, dance and comedy.
Music from The Three Degrees, The Bee Gees and Abba was featured.
Other highlights included Ernie the Fastest Milkman in the West and an appearance by Pantoes People.
The show was staged twice and raised more than £1,000 for St Mark’s Parish and Community Centre.
The centre is used for many church and community activities, including Longwood Pre-school Playgroup, Scouts, Guides, Beavers and Rainbows, for rehearsals for St Mark’s Players and as a social club for the elderly.
It was feared it would close a few years ago, but community groups and the congregation from St Mark’s Church rallied round.
The centre was refurbished with a new roof, kitchen and disabled facilities.
