ALL-CLEAR cancer victim Simon Scott has completed a triathlon to raise charity cash.

Simon, 37, took just three hours and a minute to walk, cycle and swim and raise £1,070 for Cancer Research UK.

He completed 10 miles on a treadmill, followed by six-and-a-half miles on the exercise bike at the Northern Fitness Gym in Linthwaite, where he trains three times a week.

Then he swam 100 lengths of the pool at Colne Valley Leisure Centre, Slaithwaite.

Simon, of Kinder Avenue, Cowlersley, said: "I developed bladder cancer six years ago and was successfully treated at Huddersfield's Nuffield Hospital and given the all-clear four years ago."

After his exertions it was back to work as a refuse collector the next day for Simon - although he admits to struggling a bit on his round.

He joined the Army after leaving Royds Hall High School at Paddock.

He served for five years with the 1st Battalion, the Duke of Wellington's Regiment.

He then worked as a machine operative at F Drake and Co in Golcar.

He is married to Deborah and the couple have two daughters - Jessica, 12, and Sophie, 11.

Family, friends and work colleagues helped him raise the cash and he thanked them all for their support.
