THE all-German Champions League final tonight will have a dramatic local curtain-raiser.

More than 700 people will be performing music-orientated battle scenes at Wembley before the game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich – and it’s all been choreographed by a Huddersfield dancer.

Andy Turner, 38, from Skelmanthorpe revealed he had only three days to draw it all together.

The theme will be two sides dressed in the colours of the German teams coming together for a dramatically choreographed clash.

Michael said: “There are 400 drummers, Medieval fighters, gladiators, marching bands and flag bearers. It’s about two captains going to war and meeting on the battlefield.

“We’ve had three days of rehearsals and I’d liked to have had a week so it’s been crazy really. All the 700 people taking part are volunteers and it’s become a major production. It all has to be timed to the exact second.”

Andy, who has family in the Skelmanthorpe and Shelley areas, trained at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance at Twickenham in London and the Northern Contemporary School of Dance in Leeds.

His is a remarkable story.

He walked into the famous Ballet Rambert, auditioning for one of only 10 male places available to study dance, despite never having a dance lesson before in his life, and beat hundreds to get the place.

Andy went on to have a successful career as one of TV’s leading dancers before he turned his theatrical background and love of dance towards a career in choreography and creative direction which saw him specialise in the production of major fashion shows, live event spectaculars and awards presentations for major brands.

He is considered one of the UK’s leading fashion show producers and much sought after by the fashion industry and did the choreography for the Clothes Show Live.

He was a judge and guest choreographer on Britain’s Next Top Model.

He has worked with musicians and celebrities including Amy Winehouse, The Saturdays, The Wanted, Scouting for Girls, Alexandra Burke, Kimberly Wyatt, Kate Moss, Gerri Halliwell and Kylie Minogue.

Global brands such as Wella, Toni & Guy, Mercedes Benz, Specsavers, Adidas, Redken, Pantene, Virgin, Vidal Sassoon, Wrangler, Diesel, Swarovski, MOBO Awards, Trend Vision Awards, H&M and Suzuki are among his ever growing client portfolio whose brands, product launches and shows he brings to life in the most spectacular of ways.
