TWINS Faye and Amy Stoutt were picked from thousands of air cadets to hit the slopes in the German Alps.

The 16-year-olds - both corporals - applied to go on a course open to just 36 Air Training Corps cadets from across the UK.

And a glowing report from their commanding officer, Flt-Lt Emma Leech, secured places for the Brighouse girls.

The sisters, who joined the Huddersfield-based 59 Squadron more than two years ago, jetted off to Oberammergau on March 18 and returned last Saturday.

Amy said: "The course was open to just 36 cadets from across the whole national corps.

"To be able to get two places for the squadron is an achievement.

"I would love to be able to come back with the corps again one day. I really enjoyed the trip."

Faye said: "It has been great to meet other cadets from different parts of the country. From the Zugspitze mountain you can see three countries.

"The only downside was that I was not expecting to get sunburned after three days!"

The squadron meets at 7pm every Monday and Friday at the Drill Hall in St Paul's Street. Phone 01484 535779.
