SLAITHWAITE Library is to re-open next week.

The library has been shut since a pipe burst at the Britannia Road building in early January.

Local residents had complained it was shut for a long time and were concerned about its future.

But Kirklees Council has confirmed it will re-open the library on Wednesday, March 16 at 10am.

The library will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

A council spokesman said: “Following essential works due to water damage caused by flooding, the library is due to re-open on March 16.

“The team would like to thank their customers for their patience during the closure”.
