Another wintry blast could be on the way to Huddersfield.

Weather experts have warned of sleet and snow on high ground tomorrow and into Friday.

And Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens says after a mild but wet weekend, there could be more sleet and snow early next week.

“It’s a sign that winter hasn’t finished with us just yet”, he said.

Thursday could see sleet and snow later in the day, with the possibility of anything up to 5cm on the moors but no problems in the town itself.

More sleet is likely early next week but again is expected mainly to affect high ground above 1,000 feet.

The Met Office has issued a yellow alert for the region warning of ice in some areas and sleet showers from 4pm tomorrow - Thursday - until 10am Friday.

Kirklees Council has no plans to carry out gritting but is monitoring the situation.
