A CAR being driven unlawfully in a bus lane was involved in a crash.

The Wakefield Road, Waterloo, crash happened on the day police announced a clamp-down on motorists who flout the bus lane law.

All vehicles except buses are banned from the lanes between certain times - usually rush-hours - to allow buses to avoid congestion and run on time.

Drivers who flout the law face fixed-penalty fines of up to £60.

Police say a Ford Escort in a bus lane on Wakefield Road was in an accident with a Ford Fiesta at 7.40am yesterday.

The Fiesta driver, an 18-year-old Dewsbury youth, suffered whiplash in juries and shock.

The Escort driver, a Shepley man of 31, suffered whiplash in juries.
