A man had to be freed from his car by firefighters following a smash on a busy Huddersfield road.
The crash on Saturday afternoon happened near to the Sandal BMW garage on Leeds Road.
It was witnessed by many supporters heading to the Town v Derby match at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital after sustaining suspected neck and spinal injuries.
Firefighters from Huddersfield fire station attended at the scene of the crash at just before 3pm.
It involved two vehicles and the injured driver of the grey Ford car needed to be rescued by firefighters.
A fire station spokesman said that to avoid damaging the £10,000 car they removed the rear seats to lift him out of the vehicle.
They did this using a spinal board because of the potential injuries to his neck and spine.
The man was then transported by ambulance to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
A female passenger in the car did not require any treatment.
Police also attended at the scene which caused traffic tailbacks.
