Police are appealing for information about two attacks in north Kirklees.

The first was a bizarre incident in Batley when a stranger walked into a house occupied by a man and a woman.

A man entered the house at Tyndale Walk, at 9:30am on Wednesday and confronted the occupier who was sitting in the living room eating breakfast.

The stranger demanded money several times, which led to the woman entering into the room.

At that point, the man eating his breakfast stood up and approached the intruder, who the ran out of the house and away down a ginnel at the bottom of the street.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 20 to 25, of medium build and five feet eight to nine inches tall.

He has short brown hair, shaved at the sides, and was wearing a light grey hoodie with a small Nike tick on the chest and wearing black gloves.

Det Con Andrew Clayton of Kirklees CID said: “If anyone has any information about this attempted robbery or saw the suspect in the area at the time in question, please contact Kirklees CID on 101.”

The second incident happened at around 9.30pm last night, a woman was robbed as she waited at a bus stop in Water Royd Lane, Mirfield, after leaving work.

Two men approached her and stole the woman’s shoulder bag. She suffered minor facial injuries in the struggle.

The first suspect is described as white, in his mid to late 20s of medium build, around five feet six inches tall and was wearing a grey hoodie and light grey tracksuit bottoms.

The second man is described as slim, five feet ten inches tall and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information should ring 101 and quote log number 1621 on October 2.
