STUDENTS are still making life easy for thieves.
Police have given repeated warnings to students at the Snow Island and Aspley Hall accommodation blocks that they are leaving doors and windows open.
Thieves have been reaching in and stealing expensive items such as ipods, laptops and mobile phones or just slipping in through unlocked doors to take them.
As part of a police clampdown in the Dalton area on Wednesday and Thursday, police visited the student complexes at Aspley and Snow Island, off King's Mill Lane, to give out crime prevention leaflets.
But they were horrified to find windows and doors left open and expensive items lying around.
Police also targeted offenders.
Three people were arrested for serious offences such as wounding, robbery and theft.
They also accompanied court officials searching for people who had failed to pay fines.
And they again targeted people who have previously offended.
