HUDDERSFIELD woke up to snowy scenes today.

And it's going to be more of the same for the next few days, said a spokesman for the Met Office today.

Many parts of Kirklees had light snow showers overnight and this looks likely to continue until Friday.

The Met Office spokesman said: "There will not really be much of a change today, tomorrow and Friday. Snow showers will continue, particularly on the eastern side of the county.

"It will remain cold in the wind, but nice in the sunshine, with temperatures around 5°C or 6°C (41°- 43°F).

"Overnight temperatures will drop to minus 1 and minus 2," he added.

Mr Terry Walker, senior maintenance engineer for Kirklees Highways, said gritters had been out at 3pm yesterday.

"But it was difficult, because rain washed a lot of the grit away. We went out again at 9pm, finishing at 11.30pm. We went out again at 5am today."
