The worst may be over, says Paul Stevens
Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens thinks the worst of the heavy snow is over — but it did bring quite heavy snowfalls in some areas.
Mr Stevens recorded six inches of snow at Outlane - and some drifts of up to 2 feet where the strong winds had whipped up the snow.
He said lower areas had seen only a dusting, with sleet in the town centre.
And the worst of it may be over: “We may get some wintry showers later and it will be cold tonight but the weekend looks distinctly milder, even though temperatures are still below normal.”
Heavy traffic round Chain Bar (J26)

Latest forecast
From Huddersfield weatherman Paul Stevens:
“The snow is coming in in showers, some of them heavy, and in between the skies are clear and bright.
We can expect further snow moderate to heavy over the next few hours but it is likely to turn to sleet anywhere below 1,000 feet, which is across most of Huddersfield. It is possible we will get a few more centimetres of snow throughout the day.
The wintry showers will be dying out later with a cold evening and night, with a widespread frost.
Drivers should be wary because over high ground some of that snow may drift during the morning making it difficult over some of the higher routes.”
