HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Peter Jackson was the special guest at the opening of a Holmfirth care home.

The soccer boss dedicated a white rose in the garden as he unveiled the White Rose House Nursing and Care Centre.

During the visit, Mr Jackson presented signed Huddersfield Town shirts to the home and to site manager Graham Barber and to Alan Firth, managing director of Meridian Healthcare, which runs the centre.

More than 60 social and health care professionals attended the dedication ceremony.

They included members of the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital League of Friends.

The home has been built behind the Holme Valley Memorial Hospital.

The nursing and care centre provides high quality accommodation for the elderly.

Building started in August 2003

All 60 rooms are en-suite and many overlook the Holme Valley.

Guests at the opening enjoyed canapés and champagne in the private gardens which enjoy views over the Holme Valley.
