KIRKLEES Council wants a soccer pitch in the heart of Springwood - but has no money for the scheme.
The council would like a pitch on land it owns off Bow Street. It could then be used by local schoolchildren.
The council's Design and Property Service has applied to the planning department for the pitch.
Acting estates manager David Brown said: "A few years ago the council was granted planning permission for a football pitch on the site.
"We hoped to pay for the work with a derelict land grant from the Government.
"But the money had to be used on other schemes and the planning permission expired. The council has now decided to renew it."
Mr Brown added: "It would be a very worthwhile scheme, but we do not have the cash at this stage."
Two static caravans are now on the site and would move to another part of it to make space for the soccer pitch.
