A SOLDIER appeared in court after attacking his partner.

Bombardier Lee Richardson was before Kirklees Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He admitted assaulting Mikayla Childe at her Skelmanthorpe home on October 20.

Richardson, of Belgrave Park in Halifax, claimed that Miss Childe became aggressive following an argument.

He admitted pushing her away, punching her in the head twice and holding her by her neck against a wall.

James Weekes, prosecuting, said that Miss Childe suffered a number of injuries including swelling and bruising.

District Judge Marie Mallon was told that Richard was cautioned for assaulting Miss Childe in July.

Mr Weekes said Miss Childe was not seeking a restraining order.

Judge Mallon gave the 29-year-old a community order for 30 months.

This includes supervision and participation in a domestic abuse programme.

She also ordered him to pay £250 compensation, £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge.
