THE Territorial Army has come to the aid of a Mirfield woman and her mission of mercy.

Julie Lockwood, of Dunbottle Lane, started collecting goods for deprived children in Kosovo after a TV appeal.

Now, the donated material - seen being sorted by Miss Lockwood's 10-year-old daughter, Laura - is to be collected by the Territorial Army and taken to a depot in South Yorkshire before being shipped to Kosovo.

"The response has been marvellous" said Miss Lockwood. "The phone has just kept on ringing."

People have given goods including typewriters, a computer, sports equipment, clothes, toys and electrical items.

The offer from the TA means Miss Lockwood will not have to use her own car several times to take the goods.
