A FUNDRAISING dinner is to be held by a charity named after a Brockholes man.

The dinner, organised by the Barry Wilde Trust Fund, will be at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, from 7pm on Saturday, April 30.

Proceeds will go to the liver unit at St James's Hospital, Leeds, and The Gift of Life Commemorative Trust, which raises awareness about organ and tissue donation.

The guest speaker will be sports journalist Malcolm Lord. There will also be a band, disco and raffle. Tickets cost £25.

In the past 12 months, the Barry Wilde Trust has raised £5,000 for its two chosen charities.

The trust was set up in January, 2004, in memory of Mr Wilde, who died that month of primary sclerosing cholangitis.

The 62-year-old had waited in vain for a liver transplant for 10 months.

His widow, Margaret, and children Graeme, Joanne and Richard, set up the trust to raise awareness of the need for liver donors.

For further details or to buy tickets phone Joanne on 01484 667713 or Margaret 01484 663419.
