A MEMORIAL cricket match was played in Huddersfield.

The first Tahir memorial event was held at Leeds Road Playing Fields by the town's Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.

It was held in recognition of Hadhrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad, Rahmaullah, the association's fourth Khalifa, who died in April.

Four teams of mixed ages took part and there was also a competition for under-15s.

More than 100 men, women and children attended the event, which aimed to strengthen brotherhood and unity between all members.

The final was won by Hartlepool and Scunthorpe, who beat the favourites, Huddersfield.
