PEOPLE in Fartown are being invited to a special community event.

The event will enable them to meet providers of services who may be able to offer help.

The event runs from noon to 5pm on Saturday at the Birkby and Fartown Community Centre on Wasp Nest Road, Fartown.

As well as meeting service providers and ward councillors local people will be able to give their views on matters affecting the area.

Kirklees Council’s Cabinet member for community support, Clr Khizar Iqbal, said: “The aim of the event is to encourage local people to contact the services directly and to forge better links between the local community and the services which can help.’’

Organisations to be represented will include the police, fire service, Huddersfield Technical College and Kirklees Racial Equality Council.

Kirklees Council departments there will be environmental services, community safety and support, neighbourhood management and the young people’s service.

Information will be in English, Kurdish, Polish, Urdu and Punjabi.
