A speed camera was set on fire in a fine hot spot.
A tyre was placed against a device on Woodhead Road in Berry Brow and set ablaze around 12.30am on Monday morning.
Firefighters from Huddersfield doused the flames but the camera now needs to be repaired.
Police have been informed and are carrying out an investigation into the incident.
