A police probe into a shooting which left a man critically ill with head injuries is still ongoing.

The attack happened on March 11 when 27-year-old Arfan Mehmood, was blasted in the head at close range as he was sitting in a car in Springwood Avenue. He was shot through the window by what police believe was a shotgun.

Police have since confirmed he is now recovering from the attack.

Sheraz Hussain, 29, and his brother Hamed, 24, both of Clara Street, Birkby are both accused of conspiring to murder Mr Mehmood and are due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on June 9.

A trial has been provisionally listed for August 11 also at Leeds Crown Court.

A 27-year-old woman from Huddersfield, a 30-year-old man from the Hatton area of Derbyshire, and a 37-year-old woman from Burton-upon-Trent have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three remain on police bail and the investigation continues.
