A SCHOOL secretary is looking forward to retirement after almost 25 years.

Ronwyn Holden, 63, of Lepton, has worked at St John's Church of England Junior and Infant School, Golcar, since 1987.

“I started here as a support – I helped a little boy who had muscular dystrophy,’’ she said.

“I worked with him until he headed off to the high school.

“I then went on to become the secretary in 1995 after the previous staff member left.

“I have made some great friends and I am going to miss them all.

“I am looking forward to gardening, baking and spending more time with my two granddaughters in Edinburgh and my two grandsons in Kent.”

Ronwyn will return to the school to help with reading classes.

Headteacher Kathryn Benford said: “She has been a valued member of staff here.

“She is going to be terribly missed by the staff, parents, governors and all of the children.

“She has been my right hand man and I will really miss her.”
